204 Ruger Match Build Success
Kenneth R. of Tennessee sent us some photos of his 204 Ruger Match build using a Criterion Barrels Inc. barrel purchased from NSS.
Here are the components Kenneth used on his build:
- 26” Criterion Small shank barrel- Varmint contour – 204 Ruger Match – 11 twist
- NSS precision ground recoil lug
- NSS Squared and Trued barrel nut
- NSS 4” barrel nut wrench
- NSS Action wrench
- Savage Arms action
Here is what Kenneth had to say about his build:
“My original Savage model 12 fcv in .204 was a shooter. Half moa, 5 shot groups most of the time. It has been my prairie dog rifle since 2014. I started to notice more fliers around the 3k round mark. I figured the barrel was starting to go. Decided since I shoot this rifle so much it was time to put something nice on it. After a bit of research NSS and a prefit Criterion would be my choice. I decided to go 1-11 since I shoot a 40gr bullet.
I Could not be happier! I installed the barrel myself with the NSS tools. Went too easy. Took it to the range, did a little break in. Loaded up a few work up-loads to get velocity back up for the bullet. At 3700ish fps it shot .270” groups on rounds 30-35 down the tube! The load was 26.0 grains of H4895, Hornady 40gr Vmax, Late Hornady .204 brass fired 6 times and annealed after each loading, BR4 primers. I’m still working on it but that will be hard to beat if it will repeat! Gonna load up a few more of those and head back to the range! Thanks NSS for all your help. If I ever need a barrel again, you will be my first stop!”
