James V. of California sent us some info on his recent 308 Win. build using a Shilen Rifles Inc. barrel purchased from Northland Shooters Supply (NSS).

Here are a few components James used on his build.

  • 28” Shilen Stainless select match Bull barrel- Small shank Savage – 308 Win with a 10 Ratchet twist
  • NSS precision ground recoil lug
  • NSS squared and trued barrel nut
  • Forster Products headspace gauges
  • NSS Action wrench
  • NSS 4” barrel nut wrench

Here is what James had to say about his build:

“The target is 10 shots @ 100 yards from a bipod, Savage model 110, McMillan A-5 stock, B&T Bipod. The factory barrel shot OK, the Shilen shoots much tighter groups and does it consistently. I used 168 Sierra Match King bullets, 40.2 grains Precision Rifle powder, and Lapua bras. It shoots Hornady 168s just as well. Very fine barrel. Love it!”
