223 AI Shilen Rifle Build

Robert E. of North Dakota sent us some pictures of his targets from his 223 AI build using a Shilen Rifles, Inc. barrel purchased from Northland Shooters Supply (NSS).

Here is what Robert purchased for his build:

• 26” Shilen Stainless Select Match barrel-varmint contour-223 AI with a 12 twist.
• Robert also had Shilen throat this barrel to his dummy rounds.

Here is what Robert had to say about his build:

“I had a chance to work up some full loads today. I am very impressed. This is an incredibly consistent barrel and cleans up nicely. I used Ramshot Tac powder and 53-grain V-Max bullets. I like Benchmark powder but am running low on it and haven’t been able to find any. I found some Tac so thought I’d give it a try. I may try going higher with the load, the primers still look fine, and no stiff bolt lift. I’m plenty happy with the speed/accuracy though. This Shilen barrel and my 20 Vartarg Shilen barrel I got from NSS some time ago are by far my best shooting barrels. Thanks again!”
