First Place Finish With A Shilen 308 Win Build
Greg S. wins Indiana State Mid Range competition with a Shilen Rifles, Inc. 308 Win barrel purchased from Northland Shooters Supply (NSS).
Here are the components Greg was using for his build:
- 30” Shilen stainless select match
- large shank Bull barrel in a 10 twist and Shilen throated the barrel to Greg’s dummy rounds
- NSS precision ground recoil lug
- NSS squared and trued barrel nut
- NSS 4” barrel nut wrench
- NSS Action wrench
- Forster go and no-go gauges
Here is what Greg had to say about his build:
“I have less than 500 rounds through the Shilen barrel I got from you and it’s doing well. I just won the Indiana State Mid Range Competition and Match Winner. The Indiana and Kentucky State long-range match is in two weeks hope to bring home some more hardware. I was running the Berger 185 Juggernauts bullets, Vihtavuori N140 powder, Lapua brass, CCI BR2 primers. People ask me all the time what rifle I have. I spent hours polishing the Savage Target Action and Shilen barrel to give it a mirror finish. It might not help the rifle shoot any better but it sure looks nice.
My front bipod is an Evo1 made in Great Britain. The scope is a Vortex Golden Eagle with a Nightforce 20moa rail and that Shilen barrel in 25mph wind at 600 yards keeping it inside the 10 ring. I also used your action wrench and barrel nut wrench to get the barrel on and off and your headspace gage’s. Everything worked perfectly.
Central Indiana High Power Rifle Shooters (CIHPRS) is the name of our club we shoot F Class at. Our home range is Camp Atterbury military training facility. We have several different divisions F Open, FTR, Sling, Palma, Service Rifle, AR Tactical, and F Practical. It’s for the PRS guy’s that want to try it out without spending money on a new rifle. Anyone is welcome. We are glad to help anyone with long-range shooting. Our club uses E-targets and we have close to 20 Silver Mountain Targets.”
Congratulations Greg on your Win!!
