Criterion 300 Win Mag Build

Frank H. of Idaho sent us some info on his 300 Win Mag build with a Criterion barrel he purchased from Northland Shooters Supply.

Here are the specs on his barrel and some of the other components Frank purchased from us.

  • 24”- Criterion Light Varmint- Small Shank Savage- 300 Win. Mag.- 10 Twist- Recessed Crown
  • NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut
  • NSS 4” Barrel Nut Wrench

Here is what Frank had to say about his build:
“I purchased this 24” Criterion small shank light varmint contour in 300 Win Mag with a 1:10 twist to replace my factory barrel on a Savage 111 Long Range Hunter that was shot out. Setting head space and installation was a breeze with the pre fit barrel. 

The photo of the target is at 125 yards and is shots # 2,3 and 4 out of the barrel. #1 was a bore sight and nearly off target. I subsequently shot groups that were near repeats of the 1st group all with factory Federal premium ammo. Thank you for the timely delivery. This rifle is headed to Kyrgyzstan in 3-1/2 months on a mid Asian Ibex hunt.

The scope is a Bushnell DMR 3, 3.5–18 X 56 mm. The stock is a factory accustock that has been glass bedded with a rattle can paint job.”
