Making Good Memories with Good Friends
David W. of Colorado sent us some photos of his successful 2022 Elk hunt using a 7mm Rem Mag Criterion Barres Inc. Rem/Age barrel purchased from NSS.
Here are some of the components David used on his build:
- 26”- Criterion Rem/Age barrel- heavy sporter contour- 9 twist
- NSS precision round recoil lug
- NSS squared and trued barrel nut
- 175gr. Nosler partition bullet
- Vortex Optics scope
- Stocky’s stock
Here is what David had to say about his build:
“Just wanted to share with you my latest Remage build and the results. This is my third build and I have helped several others in my area with their builds. The barrel was a stainless steel, Criterion barrel 26”, 1-9” twist, in a heavy sporter contour. Your stainless steel recoil lug and barrel nut. I used a laminated stock, from Stocky’s Stock, and pillar and glass bedded the action, 20-minute rail, and a Vortex 4×16 scope.
Although I’ve been shooting this rifle out to 400 yards, I was able to harvest this nice 5×5 Elk with one shot at 225 yards! I used a hand loaded 175 grain Nosler partition bullet, one shot, and down it went. It was the only Elk taken in camp this season. I used 58 grains for IMR 4350 powder. The velocity averaged 2841 when I chronograph the load. This loads a keeper.
What a great experience, taking an Elk with a rifle I built myself and my hand loaded round. Makes for good memories, with good friends who shared in the packing out and the meat. There will be some excellent meals for all of us in the near future.
Thank you for your great products!”
