Ruger Precision 300 Win Mag
Larry from Arizona sent us some photos of his Ruger Precision 300 Win Mag build using a Shilen Rifles Inc. barrel purchased from NSS.
Here are the specs on his build:
– 26” Shilen Stainless Select Match- Ruger Precision- M8 magnum heavy contour- 8 Ratchet twist with muzzle thread throated to Larry’s dummy rounds
Here is what Larry had to say about his build:
“I just shot the Shilen RPR barrel at 100 yards with hand loads tuned for another gun (my hunting rifle). This is a 3 shot group. The gun is a totally stock Ruger 300 WM RPR. The scope is an Arken EP5. I have had the gun for 3 years and after experimenting with about 15 different load variations I could never get the gun to hold to a minute of angle….there were always fliers regardless of temp or conditions.
I had the Shilen Select Match barrel installed and after shooting 5 groups the largest group of 3 shots was ¾ MOA at 100 yards. The smallest group is in the picture. The group is about the size of a dime. To be mentioned …the ammo I used was hand loads that I developed for my other 300 WM rifle …I was just out shooting 20 rounds to break the barrel in.”
