SHILEN 223 REMINGTON VLD AND ZERMATT ARMS TL3 SINGLE SHOT BUILD

James D. of California sent us some photos and details on his Shilen 223 Remington VLD barrel and Zermatt Arms TL3 single shot build purchased from Northland Shooters Supply.

Here’s what James used for his setup:

• 26” Shilen Stainless Select Match- 223 Rem VLD- Bull Contour- 7 Twist with Muzzle Thread
• Zermatt Arms TL3- Right Bolt/Left Port- Single Shot- Teardrop Bolt Knob
• NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut
• TriggerTech Diamond- Flat Trigger
• Forster Headspace Gauges

Here’s what James had to say about his build:
“Here is the 223 with the TL3 you sent me. The Shilen Select is shooting great as usual. The Diamond trigger is awesome – I found a Leupold Mark 4HD at Mile High that was a demo model – and stuck it in a Spuhr mount. The stock is a McMillian I had laying around from another build. 

I used Varget powder to fireform the brass – which is what this is. The next set will be H335, 8208, N135, etc. with the fireformed brass which should tighten things up significantly. It should shoot in the teens if I do my job.

I love the action – my FFL played with it more than I have. I am already looking at getting a repeater for another build I am pondering. Once I use a better powder and fireformed brass, I know this will shoot in the teens or better. “
