SHILEN 308 WIN SAVAGE BUILD

Tim from South Carolina sent us some photos of his recent 308 Win build purchased from Northland Shooters Supply and a visitor who hangs around his back yard!

Here are the specs on some of the components Tim used on his build:

  • 30” Shilen Stainless Select Match- Large Shank- Bull Contour- 308 Win- 10 Twist
  • NSS Precision Ground Recoil Lug
  • NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut

Here is what Tim had to say about his build: 
“Attached is a photo of two 5-shot groups at 115 yards with the .308 Savage/30″ Shilen barrel you sent me.  There were five 5-shot groups between these two (I was shooting round robin with different loads & powders).  The vertical shift was me tinkering with elevation for the other loads.  These groups were with N140 and 168 grain TMK’s.  The inner circle is 0.35” in diameter.  Frankly, these two groups are close to the limit of my shooting ability.
 
My .308 is my everyman’s, everyday rig:  Savage action, accutrigger, MDT stock, Arken 7-35×56 (by the way…I have Night Force and March optics on my other rifles but I’m very impressed with the Arken scope…no complaints)

Overall, I am very happy. I am aiming for my first F/TR shoot in March.
