Bob C. of Maryland sent us some info about his recent 6.5×284 Norma build using a Shilen Rifles Inc barrel purchased from NSS.

Here are the specs on the barrel Bob purchased and the parts he ordered:

  • 30”- Shilen stainless select match- large shank Savage- bull contour- 8 twist- 11-degree crown
  • NSS squared and trued barrel nut
  • Forster headspace gauges

Here is what Bob had to say about his build:

“Stock is the Savage F class laminated, Savage target action, bedded, and properly torqued. The .185” group was the very first three shots out of the barrel. Those were 144 Berger bullets. Only one group out of 5 samples broke 1/2 inch. (.512”). Very pleased. Keep in mind, I’m at the top of the hourglass, as far as break in accuracy goes. I have 52 rounds thru the tube, carefully cleaned, and NEVER hot. Nothing was above the point .300” groups yesterday, not even at 200 yards. This barrel is on its way to being a hummer.”
