30 BR SHILEN BUILD

Shilen 30 BR

David B. of Virginia sent us some photos of his 30 BR Robinett build using a Shilen barrel he purchased from Northland Shooters Supply.

Here are a few specs on David’s build:

  • 24” Shilen Stainless Select Match- Bull contour- Large shank Savage- 30 BR Robinett- 17 Ratchet twist- 11 deg crown
  • Savage Arms single Shot Target action

Here is what David had to say about his build:
“The target on the left is the first time shooting the rifle with a 5 shot group. The target on the right is a 10 shot group at 0.4 MOA. I shoot the Berger 115’s in it as it’s main food, but I have also tried the 118 (10 ogive) BIBs. I personally felt that the Berger 115s did better in my gun. I am also using N130 and N133 (both equally good, just different charge ranges).

The stock is a McMillan A5 that I have done some… work to, to make it work with the single shot Savage Target action. I also mounted the Anschutz rail. It was also circa 2014-2015 when there weren’t as many great stock options as there are today.”
