300 SAVAGE BUILD
Mark of Nebraska sent us some info on his .300 Savage build featuring a Shilen barrel and a custom stock Mark built himself!
Here are the parts Mark purchased from Northland Shooters Supply:
– 24” Shilen Stainless Select Match- Large Shank Bull Contour- 300 Savage- 17 Ratchet twist
– NSS Precision Ground Recoil Lug
– NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut
Here is what Mark had to say about his build:
“I just wanted to say thank you again for all the work you did on a past order. I had ordered a 24” Shilen Select Match 1:17 ratchet twist barrel in 300 Savage + a new recoil lug and barrel nut.
It took me a LONG time and a few mistakes along the way making my own stock (even laminated the blank myself) but I finally finished the rifle.
The above-mentioned barrel is in an action from a Savage LRP, topped with a Mueller 40×52 scope in Talley scope rings.
Attached is the first 3 shot group I fired during barrel break-in with no load development. Peterson .308 SRP brass sized & trimmed for 300 Savage, CCI 250 primers, 44.0gr Varget powder with Speer 125gr TNT bullets (I did not have my chronograph out yet).
I am very excited to see what she can do down the road! You will definitely be my first stop the next time I build a rifle.
