Jim of Kentucky sent us some photos of his Shilen 223 Rem VLD Savage build ​purchased from Northland Shooters Supply.

Here are the specs on Jim’s barrel:
–    30” Shilen Stainless Select Match- Small Shank- Bull contour- 7 Twist 
–    NSS Precision Ground Recoil Lug 
–    NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut 
–    Electric Yellow Cerakote On The Barrel 

Here is what Jim had to say about his build:
“Here is my Shilen bull barrel I recently purchased, placed on a Savage receiver, with Timney trigger, and Leupold fixed 45 optics.
The barrel shoots very, very accurately!

I am not a reloader, so I tested various commercial ammo. I am happy to say the rifle achieved .5 MOA on a number of ammo brands at both 100 and 200 yards. The Hornady Super Match 75 grain and Nosler Match 77 grain were particularly good. With that being said, all of the ammo selected shot well and were .75 or less—–a sure testament to the Shilen’s barrel accuracy.

Finally, this gun will surely bring good karma to the Vikings, reaching the Super Bowl this year!”
