SHILEN 204 RUGER BUILD

John of California sent us some photos and info on his 204 Ruger build featuring a Shilen barrel purchased from Northland Shooters Supply (NSS). 

Here are the details on the parts John purhcased from NSS:

–    26” Shilen- Stainless Select Match- Small Shank Varmint Contour- 204 Ruger- 12 Twist 

–    NSS Precision Ground Recoil Lug 

–    NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut 

–    NSS Action Wrench 

–    NSS 4” Barrel Nut Wrench 

–    Forster Headspace Gauges 

Here is what John had to say about his build:

“I sent the target photo earlier this year showing a 5 shot group from my load development. The Labradar wouldn’t track the 32 grain bullet so I didn’t have any data. I used the Garmin C1 chronograph and was able to clock it at 4100 fps with SD in the mid 30s. 

–    Powder was RL10x

–    Rem 7 ½ primers

–    32 grain Sierra BlitzKing bullets loaded .010” off the lands

–    Hornady and Nosler brass

The range is 3,000 foot elevation with 100 yard targets. I’ll be shooting it at our Ojai Valley Gun Club, 100 yard benchrest match this Sunday. The rifle is a Savage Arms model 12FV with no modifications , factory sticker action.”
