22 GT MATCH REMAGE BUILD
Matt from California sent us some photos and information on his 22 GT Match Rem/Age build.
Here are some of the items Matt purchased from Northland Shooters Supply for his build:
– 22” Criterion Rem/Age Barrel- Light Palma- 22 GT Match- 7 Twist with Muzzle Thread
– NSS Precision Ground Recoil Lug
– NSS Squared and Trued Barrel Nut
Here is what Matt had to say about his build:
” Wanted to get back to you after a second range session with my 22GT.
Velocity numbers are as follows (everything is the average of 5 shot groups allowing the barrel to cool between groups and powders):
82 degrees @ 400ft above sea level
– 90g SMK/ 37g SB 6.5= 3098fps es= 14fps * most accurate
– 95g SMK/ 35.5g SB 6.5= 2947fps es= 15fps
I threw a Ultradyne Apollo brake I had laying around on it at the end and saw an increase of 10fps velocity, and also shot the group attached.
The Stock is a HS precision Varmint/tactical (same one Remington used on their factory 5r rifles), i just put it in my mill and opened it up for the Hawkins M5 bottom metal and bedded a 8″ picatinny rail to the forend. The only change from the first range session to this was the Alpha S brake I spun on it for the last bit of the range session (stolen from my 6 Creedmoore). Now I need to buy a brake for this rifle.
– Factory Remington 700 action
– HS Precision Stock (custom inlet)
– Hawkins Precision AICS Bottom Metal
– TriggerTech Primary Trigger (1.5lbs)
– Alpha Brass
This rifle seems to love the 95gr. loads, next week I will push it to 500y to see how they group at that distance.
Thanks again for the awesome barrel and support “this dog will hunt”
